Dealing with customers on the phone or in the office can be maddening and can slow the flow of any business day. While you want your office to be busy all of the time, you actually want to be able to accomplish something while you are there. For a realtor, being able to rely on a well designed website both draw in new customers and to better serve established clients is not only a good idea, in these times, it should be considered an absolute must.

If you have done your marketing research you will know that most people get their business contact information from the internet. Even with all of the information that is out there in other media sources, the internet is generally the first choice. Think about it: your customers drive past a home they are interested in and get the realtor name off of the for sale sign, but no other information. When they come home, (or right then if they have mobile internet access) they log on to the web and search your name. If you have fully optimized your own name with a good realtor web site, then yours should be the first to pop up in the rankings. The more optimization you do, the higher your search engine ranking will be. If you have a unique realtor name then you will garner higher rankings by default, but if you have a fairly common type name, you might need to actually work to push yourself to the top of the list.

Realtors must take advantage of the ability to use dynamic pages on their website and any design they use must take that into account. Having pictures of listings that can be rotated, enlarged or moved for side by side comparison is important, and one of the first features that you should consider with your web design. Remember, in the real estate business, a picture is really worth a thousand words- so use more pictures and brief, well written content to get the interest peaked and then hopefully draw a customer in for further information. Allowing these initial contacts to be made by email will hopefully free up some of your actual house selling and closing time- you want to take care of all of your customers, but have to prioritize. The busier you are, the more you will need to take advantage of some of the benefits of a good web site.

Realtors should include their credentials and their expertise on their site, so that customers are confident in their abilities to give them good service and also to know if they will have the right listings for their needs.
